The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced its bid window on Round 2021 for the supply of durable medical equipment (DMEPOS) under the Medicare program. The bid window will run for 60 days and begins July 15, 2019.
The CMS is requiring any durable medical equipment provider who will be submitting a bid for any Competitive Bidding Area (CBA) to provide a DMEPOS Competitive Bidding Program Bond with their bid. There are a total of 130 CBA’s who will be accepting bids for these services. One bond will be needed per CBA bid and will cover all product categories bid within that CBA.
The bond penalty will be $50,000. The bond guarantees the bidder, if at or below the pivotal bid and offered a contract, will enter into a supply contract during the contract period for the Medicare product(s) they bid. The contract period for Round 2021 will run for 3 years, January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2023.
