Interview With a Contract Bond Underwriter – Meet Brenda Risa

Brenda_8990eThis week I would like you to meet Goldleaf Vice President, Brenda Risa.  Brenda is married with three boys.  She likes to spend her time away from work at their lake place with her family, motorcycling with her husband, and scrap booking with friends.  She is also Board Chairperson for the Clarkfield Area Charter School.  Brenda grew up in Morris, Minnesota on a dairy farm.   One fact you may not know about Brenda – she was crowned Dairy Princess for Stevens and Traverse Counties in her junior year of high school.

Tell us a little about Goldleaf

Goldleaf is a national surety specialists and we specialize in surety only.  Our underwriting staff consists of experienced professionals with backgrounds in areas such as accounting, law and business finance.  This allows us to be able to find merits in many underwriting files that others may miss and contributes to our success in getting bonds placed.  In addition, our underwriters counsel clients to help them develop their surety program so that it grows as their business grows.

What is the number one reason an agent should work with Goldleaf?

We truly believe that for most agents trying to place bonds can be very time-consuming and costly – taking away valuable time that could be better spent servicing their existing insurance book and looking for new accounts.   Our staff has the knowledge, expertise and market access to be able to provide you with almost every type of bond your clients will ever request, from performance bonds to almost every other type of surety and fidelity bond that may be needed.

In addition, we do not retail any insurance – we deal only in surety bonds.   If your insured goes to another agency for their bond needs, that agency always has an “in” for providing competitive quotes on the insurance.    Goldleaf is the agent’s “back room” bonding professional.  We can give your agency bonding expertise which otherwise may not be available allowing you to keep a long-term customer from looking elsewhere, or possibly allowing your agency to add a significant customer that you have solicited for years.
