The song “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” was first written in 1963 and recorded for “The Andy Williams Christmas Album.” Now, I may date myself by admitting that not only is this one of my favorite Christmas carols but I never missed one of the Andy Williams family Christmas specials during my childhood. Those shows with his brothers, children and extended family all gathered together around the Christmas tree singing in perfect harmony seemed in my young mind to be everything the holidays were meant to be.
As I’ve grown older, I have realized while not everything is picture perfect like TV and movies might reflect, I still think the holiday season is one of the most wonderful times of the year.
Again this year the Goldleaf management and staff had an opportunity to give back to those in our community and to hopefully make this a wonderful time of the year for them as well. Being able to come alongside those who truly need a helping hand during the holiday season certainly makes this a wonderful time of the year for us here at Goldleaf .
This year our office was able to “adopt” two local families who were needing a little assistance to make sure their families had a very merry Christmas. On Friday, December 15th, we took time away from the office to shop for our two families and to partake in some merriment of our own. In addition to being able to fulfill their wish lists through the generosity of our employees, Goldleaf Surety Services was able to provide each family with the groceries needed to prepare a traditional Christmas dinner.
In addition to our family adoption, we also had several employees and their families who participated in the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle drive. Goldleaf’s Regional Sales Manager Kevin Kohlbeck and his family have a long standing tradition of ringing the bell for the Salvation Army. And, not just ringing the bell. For the first hour of their two hours of ringing, the family matches all donations made.
During what can be a very busy and stressful time of the year, we have found that taking time out to give back to our communities can truly make this the most wonderful time of the year.
